ABOUT MARTHA

Martha Elena Lopez, also known as Nena by her closest family & friends, was born an artist. Martha has always been able to see the potential to take an every day object & turn it into something unique & beautiful. Before she ever dreamed of Martha’s Crafty Ideas she was taking a simple packet of doilies her dad gave her & was transforming them into charming doily purses. It has since become a common theme that once her peers see her new treasure they ask if she would share her creativity. Martha then made ten more doily purses & sold them for fifty cents to her grade school friends.

From that moment it was as if a creative spark ignited in her soul & her passion to create unique handcrafted treasures grew. She continue to nurture this budding skill & by 16 she was working with new recipes, heat embossing, beaded rings, but her most prized skill were her handcrafted bracelets. Being one of three girls, all unique sizes & ages, Martha saw the opportunity to create bracelets that would fit each of the Lopez girls since many stores only create “one size fits most”.

Her artisan gift didn’t stop in grade school, at least not as a student. Martha would go on to be the first person in her family to graduate from college & become a preschool teacher. It was as a teacher when she truly discovered that she has a gift for creating unique treasures. A fellow teacher noticed that Martha often wore beautiful jewelry & was amazed to learn that it was all handmade. After that first sale it quickly spread amongst the other staff that Martha was making & selling one of a kind handcrafted jewelry at reasonable costs.

In 2013 Martha found herself at her first craft show; San Diego’s artisan community has since welcomed Martha with open arms & see her as an equally talented artisan. All of her treasures, from jewelry to hair accessories are not only made with quality materials but lots of time & love. Each piece is created to be one of a kind, though some may be similar they are never identical. No two items will ever be exactly alike, which is one of the many reasons people have come to love her brand.

When Martha isn’t crafting or teaching, she can be found at the beach searching for sea shells with her beloved cocker spaniel Bella or going on romantic adventures with her husband Luis.
